Unit 3- October
Darted cup
I am proud how this piece can out I thought that it was going to be harder than I thought but it was fairly simple. I started of by making a pinch pot, then I cut fore triangles on each side and folded them to together until they formed a square lastly I cut out a square and put it on the bottom and the extra clay I used to make the square I put around the square. One thing that went well on the project was making the pinch pot I have progressed a lot with making them and I think that it came out really well. If I were to make this piece over again I could try to make it more even at the bottom because one side is a bit lobsided otherwise I like this piece a lot and think it turned out great.
sgraffito carving
This is piece I did not have a designs in mind but I like how it turned out all I did was carve out straight and curved lines onto the pot. The first step I did on this piece was create a pinch pot then I carved out lines into the pinch pot. One thing I like about this piece is the design I put on it even though it is a pretty simple design I like how it turned out. If I were to make this piece again I would go with a different design of something instead of a pinch pot. Otherwise it is a simple and nice piece that I gave to my mom.
Coil Pot
This is my coil pot it is a bit basics and I should of put different coil shapes into it but other wise I thing it is a cool piece. I started off by using the blue machine out side I forgot what its called but it makes long circular strips of clay. Next I made a circular bottom scoring and slipping the strands together. Then I started building up and scoring and slipping all of it together until I had a little pot. One thing that went well for me was building up with the clay I thought that it was going to be a lot harder but I was fairly simple. If I were to do this protect again I would try to add different shapes of coils to add a better designee to the pot otherwise it turned out good and I like it.
Monster Project
Reference photo
This is my monster that I made I though that I picked the hardest on but it was a lot of fun to make. The first step I did in making him was the bottom half of his body, then I made his upper body and added his arms next I made the head and lastly I added all the detail to him. When I fired him and got him the neckless around him broke which was unfortunate probable because my scoring and slipping skills were done poorly. Also I could not make the things that come from his hands no matter what I did they would not stay on or they would break. One thing that I am proud of about this piece is the mouth I think that it came out nicely and the eyes. If I were to do this project again I would score and slip the neckless on better so it did not break. I really liked how the piece turned out but I wish the neckless stayed on.
